South Wales Police is aware of the impact that off-road bikes is having on communities across Cardiff and the Vale of Glamorgan.

A number of operations with Cardiff Council’s off-road team have already been carried out this summer and these will continue.

A dedicated e-mail address is available for the public to report non-urgent information about the illegal and anti-social use of off-road bikes.

Inspector Jeff Lewis from South Wales Police, said, “We know this is a massive issue for the community. Our concerns are that someone could be hurt by these bikes which are being ridden at high-speed and also the noise which is damaging quality of life for residents.

"The last thing we want is to be called to the scene of a road traffic collision where a child has been hurt or worse.

"Aside from the personal safety and noise nuisance aspects, the riders are committing road traffic offences such as driving without insurance or MOT each time they ride on the road.”

Offenders also risk losing their homes as this anti-social and illegal behaviour could see them in breach of their tenancy agreement with the local authority or housing association.

Inspector Lewis added, "We would encourage the public to report any information regarding off-road bikes by e-mailing:
opredmana@south-wales.pnn.police.uk.

“The community are our eyes and ears and if they can tell us who is responsible for off-road bike nuisance and where there are problems, then we can make sure our officers are in the right place, at the right time.

“We will act upon information received via the Op Red Mana e-mail and if necessary seize bikes from home addresses at a later date.”
