Abergavenny - Builth Wells
35.4 Miles

Starting in the beautiful town of Abergavenny, this route immediately passes the castle and museum to your left and in to the heart of the town.  From there you get to take the A40 through Llanwenarth towards Crickhowell before turning right on to the A479 at Tretower.  To the left you'll see Tretower Court and Castle before beginning the climb to Pengenffordd, 1000ft above sea level, then down to Talgarth.

From there you'll pass through Bronllys, Llyswen and Erwood, taking in the breathtaking views as you follow the River Wye all the way in to Builth Wells.  Once you arrive, you should have no trouble finding somewhere to get a cup of tea or a burger. Oh, and the journey back is just as good!

Good biking roads but beware of sheep in the road occasionally. Tractors and other farm vehicles could sometimes take you by surprise, and could also leave mud and debris on the road surface.
